Do You Need a Website for Your Therapy Practice?
Should you have a website for your therapy practice? Maybe. Does every therapist need a website? No. Is it okay if you don’t have one? 100% Yes.
Authenticity > Technology
If you've been pondering these questions, let’s see if I can help. Start by exploring the following questions to help you decide:
Do you need/want more clients? YES or NO
Do you have resources you’d like to share with clients electronically? YES or NO
Do you often find yourself being asked questions that a website could answer? YES or NO
Would you like your contact information to be more readily available to potential and/or existing clients? YES or NO
If you answered mostly YES, you may benefit from a website for your practice. Did you answer NO to most of the questions? A website might not be necessary, and that’s TOTALLY okay!!
Let’s look at the Who, What, When, Where, and How of creating a website for your practice:
WHAT
A digital presence can be whatever you want it to be. For some, a simple one-page digital business card might work great. Others may prefer something more robust.

WHO
A website is designed to serve two main parties:
You: A website can help you run your practice more efficiently.
Clients: A website can be a tool for current and potential clients to evaluate whether you're a good fit, get in touch, and access resources.
*Of course, there’s so much more you can offer to clients and yourself, but these are the most important purposes of a website.
WHERE
I’m a Squarespace girl! I’ve used this platform to build numerous websites over the past 5-plus years. I love how easy it is for my clients to navigate. Of course, a full build takes experience, but I’m able to hand over a new website with confidence that my clients can make simple content edits independently. If you have experience with another platform, by all means, go with what you know!
WHEN
Whenever you’re ready!! Whether you choose to hire a designer or DIY your website, there will be preparation involved to get it done right. Choose a time when you can focus on organizing content.
HOW
There are two ways to have your website built. You can DIY, which I say go for if you have the skills, or hire a designer. Here are a few things to consider:
Do I have web design skills?
Do I have the time to prepare content and build a website?
What is my budget for this business expense?
What type of designer do I want to work with?
Independent - Operates their own small web design business (Like me ☺️)
Company - A firm with multiple designers and services
